Gilbert Evans, the father of A.C. Evans and the late Mrs. Grant Vail, died at his home near Fairbury, ILL Friday. Mrs. Evans had just returned home on Sunday afternoon. Mr. Evans was 92 years old. He was fairly active up to the time, some months ago when he suffered a fall which prevented him getting about, since which time he has been gradually failing. Many of our people have met him on his visits here. Mr. Evans returned with Mr. Vail on Monday. On their way back they visited the big McCrae stock farm near Kentland, owned by McCraw, the "farmer" candidate for governor. - kbz
